All the 2.6 liter V6 crossflows were pretty much the same whether they were rated as a 235, a 175 or a 2.6XP/GT. There was also a 2.6 Sea Drive which was basically the same powerhead. All have minor differences but are very very close to being the same thing.
Nothing wrong with the basic design, just old technology. Properly maintained and set up they'll run fine and last a good long while. They will not hold a candle to a 2.6 liter 60* looper. Totally different technology.
