Hello, I recently got given a Angelo Molinari 360.....

I'm trying to figure out what engine to put on it?

It's a Catamaran hull and the transom measures 16 inches, with the sponsons either side 4 inches lower.

No one has heard of this boat and I've only found a few pics online both with long shaft engines, is this the right length??

I'm hoping a 1999 25 4 stroke yamaha long shaft 20'' will power her well for fishing and some lobster pots??

Regards, Trehane

Did you measure along the angle of the transom or the correct way which is straight vertical? A 20" will work, but it is not correct. Alot of leg sticking down to hit stuff and create drag. And the cavitation plate is below the bottom of transom which could result in poor planing and steering. By the looks of that transom it could be raised 4" pretty easy, or you could get a jack lift to raise it up. What is the hp rating of that boat?

So, an old thread but I thought i'd pick up on it. Thanks to Lion hunter for confirming my fears. I ran her afew times last year as was but there was lots of spray coming up the transom and as you said, poor handling but a good turn of speed and power.

A year on and I decided to build up the transom before she goes in the water this year. It was raised by 6cm which was the highest i could easily go.

Took her out recently and she's stil kicking up spray to the sides at the transom. More worrying tho is that it seems to be cavitating slightly?

In hind sight, I should have taken some stips of wood and gone out raising in increments until she was right and then fibreglassed it all and bolted the engine on......

Any help/advice would be greatly apreciated.

Hp rating is 40 and the transom was measured vertically
