Hi all,

This is for 2001 135 optimax with Type II PTT. Unable to find answer in search. I replaced the electric motor on my PTT (leaking water around wires and finally gave out). The hydraulics had no indication of ever leaking. Have the whole assembly removed from the motor. I filled the resevoir as per seloc shop manual and extended trim and tilt. Shop manual says to cycle the system a few times to purge air while chceking fluid level when fully extended each time. The bypass valve is closed and the fill cap is closed(other than when checking fluid when tilted full out). The problem is when I try to cycle the system the tilt ram will retract but the trim rams fail to retract. The motor will run but the trim rams will not retract.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sketter, That may be normal operations for that PTT unit. I have the same stye PTT unit on my Johnny, and that is exactly how it behaves on the bench. When it is installed, the motor pushes the trim rams into the unit, like it should.

I also have the same PTT unit as you on my Merc, but have never had it off, so I cannot give you first hand Merc info.

Thanks Chris, I was going to install and try it on the motor. The unit sounds and runs very smooth "on the bench" for the tilt in and out. I'll post back when I get a chance to install.

Follow up. It behaves completely as it should on the motor.

Thanks,
