Bayliner Wiring

Have been working on adding lighting, wiring up the new wipers, etc on the Hard Top project. Came across the main ground wire from dash to battery and it looks like the insulation was peeled back and more ground wire soldered on for branch circuits. Seems odd, but it looks like original wiring. Anyone else come across this in their Bayliner? Or is this a previous owner's mess?

Re: Bayliner Wiring

Never known Bayliner to do that but................... Also might be original but the PO did some aftermarket work just to beef up the system.
Hey, I'd much rather see solder work then a mass of electrical tape !!!

I too found that under my (1990) dash when I recently wired in my new tach. Although what I found was a ignition/power connection soldered together (and then wrapped/taped) not a ground connection.
All of my grounds were connected to the under dash junction box ground to my recollection.
My guess is that, yes, that would do this from time to time. As GC said, I'm good with it as long as it soldered and taped.
