1994 Volvo SX upper Unit Gears

I have already recevied lots of help in removing my outdrive, and opened it up to see if I could find the problem . Problem i have is the upper gears are stripped, however I cannot seem to get the drive shaft out or the bearing and shaft that run vertical in the outdrive.

Does anyone know if there are special tools needed? i did undo a large snap ring the seems to hold the drive shaft in the upper unit, but it did not help in getting this apart.

You need a lot of special tools to not only take it apart, but to put it back together and get the shimming right.. If you lost the gears in the upper. The lower is contaminated big time and will destroy a new upper.
In reality, you need another drive.
