120 horse force will not start

I recently purchase a used boat. It has a force 120ho serial #0e024420. I do not know what the year on the motor is. The problem I am haveing is that it at times will not start. I got most of the old fuel out and added premium with synthetic mix. I purchased a new battery. At first the boat started well and runs great. Then a couple weeks ago it would not start. I put new plugs in. Now when I try to start it it will not fire. The motor is getting gas, it will flood and come out of the lower carb. The plugs are wet also. So I do not think it is a fuel problem. This is my first boat so I do not know alot about these items. Two weeks ago I got the boat running with muffs while in my driveway. Yesterday it just would not start. I have tried everything I can think of. It just seems like it does not want to fire.

I had the same problem, and after having a Mechanic rebuild the entire fuel system and add new reeds, it turned out to be a worn seat in the bottom carb (which is discontinued).

Sounds like your bottom carb needle valve is leaking. May have gotten some debris in the carb and may be preventing the needle valve from sealing properly. Need to take the fuel bowl off and flush the debris out, or replace the needle valve. To prevent this from happeningin the future, get an inline fuel filter and install between the fuel pump and carbs. They're cheap, less than $10.

Some fuel will always come out of the intake area of these carbs because of the design of the engine. That is why you have an intake manifold with a fuel recovery line. This sucks the fuel up after the engine starts keeping it from being a fire hazard or dropping into the water.

Disconnect the white wires on your terminal board and try to start. If this doesn't work, pull the plugs, ground them and turn the key to start. You are looking for a bright blue spark.

Get back with what you find.
