starter motor stays ingaged only way to kill it is to unhook battery tried key switch out of buddys boat my works fine in his boat and still have same problem even tried to pull starter wire(yellow/red) off key switch but that changed nothing taking all help I am lost

mine did that right before it quit. my gear would not disengage. you buddy have a start handy you can swap out?
