I have a J/E 115 connected to a TurboJet drive.

The boat was running great for 10 days. Next morning, it wouldn’t start – just kept cranking.
Tested the fuel pump, it works.
Tested for Spark and got none.

I had a spare powerpack and swapped them out – no luck.

Took it to my mechanic, he said the stator was not putting out correct voltage. He recommended replacing it AND the rectifier. I gave him the $$$ Okay $$$
I should have it back later this week.

My question is what might cause this failure? Seems rather odd with no apparent warning signs.
Can anyone offer their thoughts
