Bad Impeller?

Have a 56' 10 hp johnson QD-17. runs fine cold then when I shut off will not start. I have replced coils, points, conenser. Same thing !! Removed Impeller. looks ok but what do I know. One is straight the rest are curved. I took picture but this site won't len me post it. Any Idea's??? i'm am totally lost on what to do next. Thanks Mousty

As long as you have it apart, why not just replace the impeller? It's not much money.

Impeller has nowt to do with starting just to do with waterflow and cooling.

Vanes soon get curved but if you have gone to the trouble of taking it out fit a new one. Sounds as though it has sat unused for some time hence the one straight vane

Post picture as an attachment, but you'll have to make it small enough first.
Or upload it to Photobucket or similar and paste in the IMG code from there.

Sorry dont know why your engine wont start.

Are you saying that from cold it starts and runs OK but will not restart when warm if you stop it.

Using the correct oil mix? 20:1 or even 16:1
