I have a Volvo 5.0 GXi engine and it has an alarm issue where is beeps about every 2 seconds. The beeping starts about 10 minutes into the ride and the engine also goes into proctect mode at about 2,000 rpms.

It's been to a Volvo authorized mechanic whom has replaced the impeller and confirms that it's not over heating.

Any similar problems or idea's?

I bet the engine computer has stored a code and a scanner would tell you exactly what the computer thinks has failed. Did your mechanic scan the OBD port on the engine?

He did check the codes and it had mixed messages...running hot & cold. So he re-set the computer and also changed the impeller. The strange thing is we cannot fiugre out what the alarm means when it beeps every 2 seconds. The solid alarm noise if for over heating, but what does the every 2 second beep mean? Thanks for helping out.

I was under the impression the 2 second beep is similar to a "check engine" light in a car. Not positive though.
