Any suggestions other then whats in the manual.

The dealer said -
Follow manual - the first 10 minutes (done at the dealer)
Follow manual - the first 50 minutes
don't exceed 3000 rpms, vary engine speed occasionally
Follow manual - the next two hours
don't exceed 4000 rpms or 3/4 throttle, vary engine speed ocassionally, run a wot for one minute, then 3/4 to let the engine cool

Follow manual - remaining seven hours but don't complete the full seven hours. Instead finish off the remainder of the 50:1 fuel from the initial 36 gallons. Ten hours of 25:1 (oil injection + 50:1 in tank) is too much and could cause a carbon problem.

Re: 90hp 2-stroke break in suggestions?

same motor as mine, I pretty much went by the book on break-in, heavy oil mix won't cause carbon that quick. believe the bottom line is not to go out and run the motor WOT/5500RPM for 30 minutes or an hour until it's had some time to get broken-in for a resonable length of time. I don't run WOT much any way because motor sucks gas so fast at high RPM's. check the Yamaha Outboard Performance Bulletins for specifics on GPH, MPH, MPG and RPM's for your boat/motor setup. best efficiency usually on plane around 3500RPM. Use Stabil Marine, Yamaha Ringfree, fuel/water seperator. Good Luck!
