Question 1990 150 evinrude. port side oil tank HOW DO I KNOW THE OIL IS GOING INTO THE ENGINE?

i dont want to blow up the motor and i dont know if the oil is mixing .. if i unplug the oil from the engine and pump the primer it comes out the hose... ???? ppl are telling me to disconnect it and pre mix the gas......

If your in doubt that it's pumping oil it is wise to premix the fuel (if the boat has a built in tank, pick up a 6 gallon external tank for this test).

Since it will now be running on premix for this test, the worst case scenario is you will be over oiling the engine. Now mark the oil tank and run the engine for a given period of time. If the oil pump it working, the oil level will drop...

I sure other's will chime in on how much it should drop but this should at least get you going...

thanks for the reply.. im going to try to do that tomarrow .. i just have to take my lower half off my engine and shoot some water into the hole the water pumps in so i can make sure its not clogged....

You should use about a pint for every six gallons you burn. Mark a line on the tank, youll see it drop.
Based on your other post youve got bigger problems. You are more likely to blow a cylinder from a gummed up carb. Bad oil injection does not blow just one cylinder, it wiipes all of them out.
