1979 25 HP 'rude, no spark at top plug.

I bought this boat this March. The first few times I took it out, it ran like a champ. Now I have lost fire at the top plug. It comes back for a second or two after it is well warmed up. There are no obvious shorts, bare wire, loose connections and yes I replaced the plugs. Ohm readings through the coils read the same for both.

swap the coils, see if the problem follows the coil. if it does replace bad coil.

Ok, I swapped the coils and now have nothing at either plug. Could it be the CDI power pack? Can it be tested?

Ok, now I'm very confused. All the diagrams I've seen shows a Stator assembly under the flywheel. I pulled the flywheel off and all that is under there is the sensor and the charge coil. Those are the only components that have wires. Can anyone shed some light on this?
