mercury 80 hp, won't fire on third cylinder,
I,ve changed out power pack, coils and checked the stator by the book, any Idea?

You didn't say if you are getting a spark at the plug or not. Are you getting a spark from the wire leading to the plug?

no spark on the #3 wire. i have switched out the coil, so i know it is not that.

its the trigger switch we swaped the wires and its firing on the other two. THANKS

Got a trigger for my "83 80hp 4cyl. merc at outboardparts.com for $75.60. It'll cost you about about $15 to ship it. rebuilt my entire ignition system, stator, trigger,4 coils, rectifier and switchbox for a little over $500. shipping was free for orders over $200. were all Mercury or CDI parts.
