My motor recently started acting up. Wouldnt turn over or electric choke wouldnt work at controls. But if I used rope I could pull start it adn then shut off then it would turn over with key and choke worked. Is this a sign of the neutral safety switch going bad? I did hear a click and hum near that area wasnt starter or solenoid switch clicking. Thanks in advance,

That hum is telling you that either a wire/cable is coming loose OR is tight but has a dirty connection. Remove all wires/cables pertaining to the starting system, including the solenoid cables, starter terminal, powerhead ground, battery terminals, etc...... clean all end connectors and the components they connect to, then tighten them with a wrench or pliers.... not your fingers if any wing nuts are used.

To test the electric starter, simply run jumper cables directly from the battery to the starter.
