Hi,

Can anyone tell me where to find a new vacuum control diaphram for a Rochester Quadrajet off of a 79 228 Mercruiser. I can't seem to find any online anywhere with the same configuration.

I'm also looking for the choke spring and cover. This is the type that attaches to the intake manifold.

I'm rebuilding the carb and hate to put the old ones back on. Still works but who knows how long.

Re: Rochester 4BBL Vacuum Control

3rd day of looking. Only place I see nice shiny new ones are people who rebuild carbs and they won't sell carb parts. They are getting them somewhere. Can anyone help?

I've been told that the GM part number is 137-3317 though I saw a part number for a marine rochester carb that was 1397-3317 without a picture so that first number may be incorrect.

I was also told that the other part I need is part# 72625 and is called a thermostat spring.

Hi Sieg100,

Marinepowerservice shows the vacuum control 1397-1317 in stock at $16.10. They have the 4 barrel carb listed wrong, under the 2-barrel stuff. This should be what you're looking for.

They also have the choke parts here (72625 is right for the choke coil spring - expensive little devil):

I'm in the middle of rebuilding a 1987 Quadrajet - my choke coil is sitting on the bench, the little shaft it wraps around was spinning in it's bracket so the choke wasn't opening fully - I'm going to pin mine together to fix it.

Good luck!
