I am having difficulty accelerating on my 1969 140hp Mercruiser.
It has a panel throttle with single lever.
I engage the neutral position by pushing in button in and pushing the throttle forward. I start the motor.
I then bring throttle back to neutral and push down to engage the forward gear.
The Motor will not shift into forward until the throttle is at its end.
I then have to hold throttle down at its end in order to pick up speed.
What should I troubleshoot first?
