Mariner 30 hp (Long). Model year? Lower unit?

I'm trying to cross-reference two Mariners to see if they have compatible lower units:

689 L 411690
689 L 330769

Can anyone tell me what years these are, and whether they are compatible?

, but oddly, the "30 L - 689 - " series is not on there, only 30 EL, 30A EL, 30 ML, etc. Have to assume since the "689 L 411690" is an electric start, it must be in the "A EL" series (1984)...though I have no idea what the "A" stands for, and there's no "A" or "E" stamped on the engine. ??

Sheesh, and I thought the Dewey decimal system was a mess...
