Hey guys. I have a 1979 scarab 300 with a tilt issue. one of the drives will raise, but it won't come back down. The 12v motor is running in both directions, solenoids all work. The motor and pump sound loaded when I am trying to lower the drive. Sounds like it is dead heading against a valve or check valve. Is there a schematic out there that could show me how this works? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Tilt Hydraulic issues

Well first, what is this, A Merc? VP? OMC?

More than likely you have a stuck shuttle valve inside of the trim pump... you can TRY repairing it but usually you replace the pump.

Re: Tilt Hydraulic issues

Sorry about that. It's a merc with a prestolite trim pump. I found a trouble shooting guide with a flow diagram. You are correct about the high probability of it being the shuttle valve. Not much else in there to cause the problem with the symptoms I have.
Thanks for the help. I'll have a look at it tonight.
