OMC trim motor problem

I narrowed the problem down to my trim motor (thanks to help from you very kind folks) but now I'm curious as to if the motor can be repaired or not. Is it worth it to check local shops or is it better just to purchase one at dealer or repair shop. It's an 1989 OMC 5.0 I/O.
