I was given a 1946-48 5.4hp evinrude outboard, ser.4404-83673. The manual calls for 1/2 pint oil for 1 gal. gas. 16:1 sounds like a lot of oil should I stay with it?

http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/About.Us/FAQ/Oil.Fuel.htm suggests 20:1 using a TCW3 oil. Maybe a little adjustment of the carb settings will be necessary for best running.

on the rude site it says 20:1 for pre '56. I wouldnt go any leaner than that.


damn how do you yanks not mess up mixes with gallons and pints. A pint to me is a size of beer. ml to L
