Thanks for the help so far. I have only one concern left. Again this boat is a Bayliner 2556 w/5.7(350). I have installed the Pertronix as per the original directions. I did the "diode fix". Made all necessary adjustments. Believe it or not everything works like it should and it shifts great.

The one concern is this. Every once in a while the engine just cranks and will not start, then suddenly starts. I know that there is a 12v feed to the coil from the starter and a resistor wire both going to the coil + terminal.

I spoke to Pertronix and they said just hook the coil up to 12v switched from the ignition switch. The ignitorII and flamethrower II work in a range from 8-16 volts. But.............? Does this adversley effect the ESA, can it tolerate the voltage on the ESA side of the coil.
