Yes, I did a search, but it did not answer my question ?? We recently trailered an ?88 Four Winns with an OMC out drive, and 302 Ford V8, to northern MN, where it will spend the winters. There?s no service in the area, so I must do the winterizing. In spite of reading posts here, and mfgr?s literature, I?m still not confident that I?ll not miss something??.. Will this work? ?? Remove the thermostat, replace the stat housing, attached muffs on out drive, run engine, and suck up three gallons of anti-freeze. Is there any down side to this unorthodox procedure?

Go up to the adults only sticky at the top of this forum and read the winterizing threads.
With what you are suggesting, you stand a 50-50 chance of cracking a block.

Ayuh,...
Find All the Drain Plugs on your unit,... Remove them,... Poke out the hole with a nail or screw,...
Remove the lowest ends of the water Hoses....
Drain ALL the Water from the boat....
Reinstall the drain plugs removed,... reattach the hoses....

If you do that,..... There's just NO Possible way for there to Ever be any Freeze Damage....
Air just Doesn't Freeze..... ;)
