Howdy All,

I recently picked up a 1989 Bayliner Capri with the Ford 2.3l. At this point it looks like it has a broken rod. I am wondering what the difference between marine and auto gaskets and where to find parts for this motor?

One boating website sells Fel-Pro Hs8471Pt5 for the 2.3 but this is clearly a auto gasket set.

I only know this because I work for an auto parts store.....

This whole subject is rather confusing.. I read posts that say the 2.3 internally is the same as an auto 2.3,is this true?

I ask for any help....

Thanks,
JD

Then you should be able to tell if it's a composite head gasket or not.

What he said. The head gasket is different, though sometimes on wet intakes you'll find a different intake gasket as well.
