year model confirmation please

I am about to order some parts and wanted to make sure the year on this unit is correct it a merc 40 ser # 3936540 and according to the site I found on here it is a 1974? thank's for the help

go to oldmercs.com for all the old merc mfg. dates .i have merc 402 serial #4036337 it's a 1974'.the parts list i ordered is for merc 402 serial #3336258 and up and at the bottom of the first page says revised sept. 1972'
