Could someone tell me if all gimbal housings intechange or does it have to be the same as came with boat. Working on a 1992 OMC 3.0L cobra that spun the gimbal bearing and cracked gimbal housing, looking to replace housing but would like to know if say a 4.3 or 5.0 housing would be the same or if someone out there has the piece I need Thanks 4 the help

gimbal housings and transom plates are all the same. I replaced my gimbal housing because of the same problem you have, also replaced the transom plate because the one I got was in better shape than my original. FYI I used 2.3 OMC parts to replace my OMC V8 parts
