LAst sunday morning after scalloping all day in Homosassa when I went to start my engine for the first time the next day the water temp light buzzed then stayed on...shouldn't this be happening AFTER ther engine got warm? I was wondering if this was actually a sensor malfunction since the engine was obviously getting water flow with the water coming out the back in a normal flow. The day before I had to stop once with massive seaweed in the prop, but didn't see any weeds choking the water intakes after checking them.

Pull the cowling and put your hand on the head. If it is scalding, the motor is overheating. If not, check the sensor with a voltmeter to see if it is grounding, which sets off the alarm. if the sensor is good, check the wiring for missing insulation.
