I have a 1998 Mercury 225XL 3.0L. I was troubleshooting a miss issue I was having with my motor, and found a few spark plug boots and wire's with cracks in them. I've found replacement wires's at a supplier locally and am waiting for them to come in. In the process, I've looked at how to replace the old ones. When looking at the ECM where the plug wire plugs into, it looks like a screw is sticking out of the ECM and the wire pushes down on it. Is this correct? It doesn't have a connection I am familar with. Can someone please explain to me how this works. How this connection is made properly.
