Hi all,I am considering purchasing a pontoon with a early 90's Yamaha Pro 50 (50hp) on it. I tested it on the boat in the lake this weekend & it seems to run and idle well. I've always been a Merc/Johnson guy so I know nothing about thr Yamaha's. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these engines and if there was anything I should be concerned about with this engine or if they are good engines. Thanks in advance for you help.

I wouldn't have any problem going with a Yamaha, they have been building 2 strokes forever.

As long as it checks out, compression, clean lower oil ect.

The only problem you may have is finding a Yamaha mechanic but I am sure any good mechanic can work on it.
