Fuel Starvation

The Outboard engine starts no problem but after 3 - 5 mins of running the engine slowely dies. This is due to fuel starvation. You can prevent this by manually squeezing the Primer Bulb on the fuel tank and the engine picks up again. This has to be repeated every 3 - 5 mins.
The engine is a Mariner 75 - 2 stroke.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Re: Fuel Starvation

Things to try:

Hook it up to an alternate fuel supply:

If same issue - change fuel filter

If still same issue - rebuild fuel pump.

If it goes away with the alternate fuel supply, it could be

a) Restricted fuel line
b) bad primer bulb

Re: Fuel Starvation

It is probably a bad fuel pump, however, make sure fuel tank vent is open and filters are clean.
