Cannot seem to find in J/E service manual whether my motor (see below) has this feature. Anyone know if this motor has this feature?

Re: Fast Start Feature

The Quickstart feature advances the spark timing when the motor is cold started. When you cold start the motor, does it rev to 1000RPM+ with the control in neutral for a while, and then slow back to 600-800RPM? If so, it has the feature.

Thanks Chris, it does run up around 1500 when cold so I must have that feature.

A 1987 V4 looper did not come with that feature. However, if someone has updated the ignition system with the 88 & newer style it will have it.

I don't believe the ignition systen was ever updated. Am I correct that this feature is electically controlled and nothing I could physically identify? Thanks for the reply too.

You said the engine revs up when cold, but you didn't say whether it drops down after it warms up.

Also, are you absolutely sure of the year? What is the model number?

Re: Fast Start Feature

One of the temperature switches in the cylinder heads will have a white wire with a black tracer in addition to the tan wire on a QuikStart ignition. But as Mr. Hadley said the 1987 140 did not have that feature originally.

Thanks ezeke, I'll keep that in my notes for future reference.
