Default Need Help Starting My 150 Mariner (updated and new info)

Hey guys, I am new here and a new boat owner. I have a 150 Mariner (96 or 97) on my boat and had trouble starting it the other day on the water. (Fine in the driveway!) I probably flooded the engine. Everyone tells me that engines have "sequences" to start them, ie. choking and priming the bubble. Does anyone have an answer to make my trip more enjoyable? I trailered the boat and came home!

I prseume that is a '78 or '79 inline six? Normally you cannot flood them.

Pump up the primer, hold the choke button, cold start lever all the way up, and crank 'em until they start.

I updated some info to help. I incorrectly listed it as a 140 when it is actually a 150.

Just follow CHRIS's advise on the procedure, if that doesn't work then you may have a fuel flow problem. When you turn on the key, if you right by the motor, you should hear a click on the starboard side by the carbs, that is the enrichment valve working. There is a small button on top of it you can push to check to see if it is working. How are the spark plugs?
