Omc Stringer wont start????

I had just replaced all the gaskets on the motor for my OMC Stringer. Everything is very tight and looks great. I sprayed the carbs with carb cleaner and added new fuel. I turn the key open the throtle - gas is getting to the engine, it s turning over no problem and chugging but wont start or run once i let go of the key. What can i look at or check to get it running?

When was the last tune up (spark plugs)?

Its a 1981 400 OMC Stringer sterndrive. Last year I had a tune up. Should I replace the plugs. When I first put everything back together it ran great , and now nothing. What can I do

Try pulling a plug and then put the plug wire back on the plug to see if you getting spark to the plug, oh and do you have a wire tester, I never leave home with out it, I actually used it yeserday on the water when my electric fuel pump quit on me on the water, turned out to be a loose wire under were the ignition wire was, Wire testers are a great help.
