I have 96 Evinrude v6 model E150ELEDB. I replaced bad starter and boat started up and ran fine that evening then next morning would not start. No fire to plugs. Could this be power pack problem. Also the tach and engine check quit working and has come on a couple of times only to quit again. Again got motor started yesterday ran fine with muffs started all day. Then went out this morning and fired reight up only to die and not start again. I would really appreciate any kind of feedback. I am at wits end. I also got started yesterday by tapping around coil/power pack. When started took all covers off looking for wires grounding and all grounds. I could not find anything even wiggled wire trying to get engine to die it ran fine. Hel

Try disconnecting the tach,If it is shorting out you will lose spark.

Yes it has kill lanyard and it is not grounding out. I got boat started today by hitting on the spark plug cover on the back of the engine. Thinking a wire was shorting out or something. While the motor was running removed cover off the coil pack and tried wiggiling wires to see if I could get motor to shut off and nothing. I took to lake today got unloaded and started fine and was heading out on lake and motor died. Took motor cover of and hit the cover on the coil pack and started and ran all day. This is the wiedest thing. Could it be a bad coil pack? By the way i put kill lanyard on and pulled off with motor running and it killed the motor. Thanks for the reply all.
