Bent Prop Shaft

Boss has a 02-03 Yamaha 225. They hit something and bent the Prop and prop shaft. They looked at getting someone else to do it but they said it would 2 weeks before they could look at it and i got to thinking it would not be that hard to do could be wrong. Do i need to take off the whole lower unit of can i just take the prop off and take everything off and just slide it out.

That can be a very complicated procedure which will require shimming the new shaft. Most people are not set up to do that. Best leave that to a pro. Another option would be to buy a used lower unit an just bolt it on. I would guess that the cost would be about the same.
