I have a 1970 Johnson 85hp on a 1967 Starcraft StarChief
Motor has been sitting for a few years - it does appear to have newer coils and wires.
Engine will not fire when cranking over, nor does it appear to have spark (checked with a light).
However, if the key is left in the "on" position, you can hear ticking from the "amplifier" on the back of the engine and it will occasionally fire a spark to a cylinder. When it does this the engine is not being turned over with the starter - but it did backfire when this happened twice.
Really weird - Any ideas?
