I removed the exaust boot from the transom to the lower unit
installed the muffs turned the water on and water pours out the exaust in the outdrive (engine not running just checking for leaks)
is the leak between the upper and lower unit?

There is a plastic fitting in the transom shield. i recently had to replace it on my 99 SX drive. Parts are cheap, but drive and transom shield has to be removed.

Yes, you have a problem with your water tube, water tube guide, or water tube seal.

Re: 1997 SX cobra sucking air

I believe i will take it to a volvo mechanic
I took it to one that works on mercs and said he would look at it for me
he started to pull the outdrive and it leaked oil and said the seals are bad and he is not going to replace the seals (to complicated)
but there has been no oil on the driveway and oil level is full and no water in oil
no oil in the hull and shifts fine
just bought the boat 2 months ago
