My son's beautuful 1948 Chris Craft sports a 40 HP Lark V Electirc Shift. We have always run the proper Premium Blend in the LU. This year she is jumping out of forward when more than 3/4 throttle or if we hit a roller - bassically when the unit gets too much load. When then idled back, it will go back into gear. Anyone have some ideas on repair or repairability?

It sound's like the forward hub, and spring are slipping. You would want to replace both hub, and spring in this case. You could put an annalog volt meter on the forward blue wire that goes into the exhaust housing, and then what the needle when it slips out of gear. If it is the gear, and hub, I would be shy of a used one, but that may be your only choice. That hub, and spring was very exspensive when new.
