Hi, I have a 1997 40hp ELPTO on my tracker. It has very low hours, maybe 30. When I took it out of storage this season and ran it on the lake, it had a very rough idle. I always use Sea Foam in any fuel left over in the tank at the end of each season. When I opened it up it hesitated and then eventually came up to full throttle and it ran great. I tried squeezing the bulb to see if it was starving for fuel, but the bulb was hard and nothing changed when I did squeeze it. I got it home and removed the carbs, cleaned them and put them back on. I emptied the fuel cell, flushed it and put 5 gallons of premium in it. The carbs were pristine and did not need cleaning at all. The spark plugs were perfect too. I took her out on the big lake yesterday and again, very rough idle. It throttled up better and I ran it on full throttle for about an hour and she purred great. But when coming back through the channel, she struggled to stay running at idle/ no wake speed. Would this be a idle mixture setting on the carbs? Any thoughts? Thanks!
