I have a 1990 Four Winns, 4.3 ltr, OMC outdrive and when trimming, goes up and down sometimes and sometimes not. Lately it has become more problematic. I can hear either a relay or solenoid clicking by the trim motor when it doesn't work. I do not have a manual or wiring diagram. The trim motor/pump is located behind the battery and I need to remove the trim motor from the bracket to access the terminal connections where I can use a multimeter. Could you tell me which leads to jump to eliminate the motor being the potential culprit vs solenoids or relays. If the brushes were worn down inside the motor would that still work intermittently? Also if I have to change out the motor is the pump and motor one unit or can it be taken apart?
Thanks for all your help and info.
