I just completed a tune-up on my 71 20horse motor. It ran great for a while, and then I ran it WOT to see if the performance was back. It was, until two problems started. First is I get a miss pretty regularly (like the engine shuts down for a split second), and secondly it started popping out of gear into neutral unless I hold the shifter with forward pressure. I'm going to see if there is some linkage adjustment for the second problem, but not quite sure where to look for the first. Carburetor? I removed it and did a cursory cleaning as it looked pretty good, but not a full teardown. I did plugs, points and condensors in tuning.
Any ideas on either problem greatly appreciated. I've done quite a bit of work on 4cycle motorcycle and auto engines, but not much on 2 cycle.
