Help needed asap.

We have an 85 Bayliner Capri with a 125 force outboard motor on it. We accidentally removed the shift coupler pivot screw and had trouble getting it back in but it did go back however when we put the motor in gear it went in reverse and stayed there but will not go into neutral or forward, how do we fix this problem?

When you got the screw back in you missed the shift gizmo.

There is a long shot possibillity that you can take the screw back out and with a scribe get the gizmo in position for the screw to go back in correctly. Put your control in Rev and give her a try.

Otherwise you need to dismantle the foot.
