Question New boat owner question - Gas consumption

I recently owned my fathers boat and i have a question. Is there a way to calculate the gas i need when i wanna go fishing or a small trip? Im new to all this and im looking for how much litre per hour for example the boat engine is consuming.

The boat is a 13.8 feet (4.2 meters) inflatable boat with a Johnson 40 (2000 model, BJ40PLSSM) and im running it in seawater.

Thanks in advance.

they do make electronic metering devices that you put in line between tank and engine that tells you your consumption...not sure about mounting it on an inflatable though although you could probably figure it out....

What size fuel tank does it have? I would fill it up everytime I go out and then look and see how much is left at the end of the day and start to get a feel for it that way......

you should be able to find information about the motor online that should give you expected fuel burn at varying RPM's you could look at that to at least give you an idea.

That motor should burn around 4 gallons per hour at WOT (wide open throttle) and considerably less at lower speeds. I would assume for open water travel you'll probably burn 2.5-3 GPH. If your in heavy seas more flat water less.

I'd filler up when you leave then re-fill when you return. That will give you a good idea.
