If your standing at the back of the motor which way does the impeller turn?

you can't see the impeller from the back of the motor. the drive shaft turn clockwise, when installing an impeller, turn the drive shaft clockwise looking down on the lower unit.

I'm installing the new impeller into the stainless liner and the fins have to bend a certain way. Which way do you have to turn the impeller for proper installation?

You want to turn the impeller counter clockwise as you install it into the liner. The fins will be bent the right direction then when you install it and the drive shaft is turning it clockwise like TD said.
