evinrude 10 hp sportwin pops out of forward at all speeds reverse works ok. I checked the shear pin and the shift linkage the shear pin is ok and the linkage is tight and pushing down all the way. I'm new to outboard motors. Any help much appreciated.

Most likely the clutch dog, but there's a chance your linkage in the leg is loose. There is a little plate you take off to check it. If it's the clutch dog, when we were kids, we would reverse it to get a little more life out of it, since we couldn't afford a new one! Who needs reverse anyhow?
