Re: Handicapped Access into Boat
I would like to offer some advise, my uncle is in in a wheelchair. But without knowing particulars, I can't.

If you are thinking of adding an assist to the boat, it had better be big. The last thing you want is a crane hanging off the side of a small craft. The same would apply to a lift or some other devise.
You would add too much weight to one side and create an unstable situation.
Another thing to consider is the dock you load at. Is it a constant height? Water levels change and only floating docks would work with-in the parameters of the lifts operating range. Another concern I would have would be wake from other vessels. Once on the lift, you are at the mercy of the water.
Is the individual able to assist in some way? Whould they require the chair once on board?
My uncle boats quite often and is able to board and unboard with little more than a grab rail and an arm from one of us. Once in the boat, he's able to move around just fine. Unloding he does not require any assistance.
Sorry I can't be of some help...but know you got me thinking.
