My '98 Johnny 150V6 has it. My guess would be 90s Johnnys and newer. at least the V4 and V6 models.

My '97 Johnson 115 doesn't have it. I've overheated at WOT and it doesn't slow itself down.

The SLOW sytem first came out on certain 1988 motors. It was not on every carbureted motor.

There is also the SAFE system that limits rpm to 1200 on 2002 and later FICHT, DI, and E-TEC engines.

When a overheat occurs, and the engine is shut down by the operator, if the operator attempts an instant restart, will SLOW affect idle quality and starting, or does it only intervent when its specific RPM is reached?
Does it kill cylinders randomly, or always picks on one specific cylinder?

Thanks

On my V6, the SLOW system kills spark to one bank of three cylinders. They stay killed until motor cools off.

Thanks Chris
I can now presume that a 3 cylinder would pick on the same cylinder when in SLOW. That would explain why an 3 cyl. with a one low compression cylinder wouldn't restart after overheating...

Thanks
