I have a 1989 Sea Ray and the engine case has Sea Ray written on it. How do I find the actual mfgr.

Look for a plate on the transom clamp.

That is a Force engine block. Probably all Force components with a Sea-ray hood and logos. If it says Brunswick, It was made by the US marine division which made Force engines and Bayliner boats.

The ony SeaRay branded outboards I have seen were Mercurys.

SeaRay Stern Drives in '88 were MerCruisers with Alpha I gen I drives. The Outdrives were painted white.

SeaRay outboards of that vintage were Mercs, with white paint.
