Does anyone know of a method to retrofit a power trim package to this engine?
Thanx in advance.

Re: 1973 Mercury 650 3 Cyl.

I did that refit last summer on my 1971 Merc 800. Easy upgrade if you can find a good used PTT system. Make sure you get ALL the mounting/install hardware and the control panel/harness with the unit. Some of the parts are hard to get. I had to make a part for mine.

Only the "type 1" systems will fit that motor. They had the pump and reservoir in the boat and the two rams mounted on the motor. Four hydraulic lines run from the pump to the rams.

In a nutshell, you remove the existing two shocks from the motor midsection and replace them with the two hydraulic rams. Easy bolt up installation. Mount the pump in the boat, run the hydraulic lines to the rams, hookup the controls, bleed the system and you are ready to go. Oh, you will need to drill 4 more holes in the transom to attach the rams to the boat.
