Is this 27' maxum underpowered?

I'm liking a '97 27' maxum scr express cruiser that was recently repowered with a 5.7L 250hp mercruiser. It looks to me that the original specs called for a 7.4L liter 330 hp engine as standard. The owner claims it has plenty of power but I am afraid it will not be enough power. Will this boat feel like a slug and what speed will it plane at? Are there any typical problems with this boat I should closely look at?

Take it for a ride and you decide. Personally, I would rather have the 330hp.

mine is a HEAVY 1984 26ft Wellcraft aft cabin with genset-hot water heater- big freshwater tank-...loaded... and the 1996 454 & bravo3 @WFO 43mph on gps- usally cruise at 3400RPM@28mph . most all the others like this one came with a 260hp -350chevy- I think it must have been a turd back then. my$0.02 worth opinion-(no offense intended)

Sea trial will be in order. but the short answer is yes, it will be underpowered with jsut a 250hp 5.7. Good luck
